Croydon singer Ben Haenow has actually been named this year’s X Factor winner after going head to head with Fleur East in the XFactor Final 2014 at Wembley Arena.
The entrants, who were both mentored by Simon Cowell in the over-25s group, sang 2 tunes in front of the judges and a 10,000-strong audience.
The winner was picked by the public, with 10 million votes on the night. This was the largest vote ever and proves the success of the new format.
“This what you’ve waited for for 12 years,” Cowell informed Haenow. “This is exactly what becoming a star seems like.”. You are the X Factor Winner 2014.
“You deserved it, you’re a great person. This is your moment.”.
There hasn’t been so much excitement since the story of X Factor Cheryl Cole Anorexic was released.
Fleur East, 26, was the bookmakers’ favourite to win the series after topping the iTunes chart with her cover of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk last week. However she was unable to win the title of X Factor Winner 2014.

For their tune of the series, Haenow sang Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror, while Fleur duplicated her success with Uptown Funk, which ended up being a UK top for Ronson this weekend.

Both entrants sang the same winner’s song, a cover version of One Republic’s Something I Need. It was thought that both made a great performance of this.
Haenow’s version was greeted by raucous applause from the public.
Mel B told him: “I believe this song was truly made for you.”.
Ahead of the decision, Cowell called it “the best and closest final I believe I have actually ever judged”, adding that he wished he might split the prize.
Sunday’s final was peppered with lots of different performances from previous X Factor stars, significantly One Direction and Olly Murs, who duetted with Demi Lovato. He is a former judge on the now defunct United States version of The X Factor.
Ronnie Wood – Rolling Stones Guitar man performed with One Direction, though the greatest cheers of the night were still reserved for Harry Styles.
